Please join us for this fun STEAM event! In this class, students will learn about engineering, construction, and the scientific process. Students will be put into teams based on age and compete to create a device that can keep a chicken egg intact when dropped from the top of a ladder. The team that builds a device that will keep the egg intact from the tallest height will win!
This is an activity for grades 2-12 and will be offered in person at the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee. STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, and persist in problem-solving.
Event Schedule:
10:00 - 10:45: Check-In, Meet teammates, Instructions, and Planning
10:45 - 12:00: Students will build their devices and purchase materials. (students will be given a budget amount and must allocate RVA Bucks to purchase the materials needed to complete the project).
10:45 - 11:00 Roary’s Raw Materials Store Open
11:00 - 11:15 RVA Embellishment and Accessories Store Open
11:45 - 12:15: Break for a pizza lunch and to discuss their team strategy
12:15 - 12:45: Students will have time to create their device and try it out.
12:15-12:30 All Stores Half Off!
12:45 - 1:15: Egg Drop! We will drop the eggs and see which teams win!
1:15-1:30: Clean up Tables
1:30 - 1:55: Awards Ceremony and Wrap Up
