RVA High School Online

Through using both online content combined with on-demand instructional support, RVA high school students receive a flexible and engaging learning experience second to none.  RVA high school students have online classes that they can work through at their own pace, but they will also have teacher instructional support on a daily basis.

By following a daily time schedule, students log into their online classes and receive live instruction.  Outside of class, students also have access to teachers through email, open office hours, and by scheduling personalized 1:1 meetings.  Live daily attendance is mandatory at the start of all courses up through the first Progress Check.   After the first Progress Check, students can earn flexibility in their daily schedules by demonstrating mastery of the concepts and showing that they are able to maintain adequate pace.  There are some classes, however, where daily attendance is required.   Each course in the course selection guide indicates whether the course has “Earned Flexibility” or “Daily Attendance is Required.”  The course description guide also indicates whether or not a particular course requires “camera on” presence by students.  It is advised to review in detail both the attendance and camera-on requirements prior to committing to signing up for any given course.

RVA High School Course Selection

Please look over the course descriptions under your grade level and choose the courses you would like to take this year.  We strongly encourage students to take the RVAHS Online courses with live instruction.  However, students can also take elective courses on an individual basis, overseen by an RVA teacher, from a variety of different curriculum vendors.
