The beloved Nutcracker fairytale has taken over the Paine Art Center's "castle" with a mesmerizing array of sights, sounds, and surprises! Join the RVA for a virtual tour of the Nutcracker in the Castle. This literacy based virtual tour will be given by the Paine Art Center's educator and "Godfather Drosselmeyer" from the Nutcracker story. Along the tour we'll visit elaborately decorated rooms of the historic Paine mansion, each revealing a new chapter of the story! We'll tour the rooms and be prompted with questions about the Nutcracker story. We'll also see dancers performing dances from the Ballet within the building. Join us for this unique experience! The virtual tour is designed with elementary students in mind, but all ages are welcome to attend and enjoy the virtual tour of the beautiful Paine Art Center.
The Paine Art Center has provided some pre-lesson activities to better prepare us for our visit and enhance your experience. The biggest thing is to be sure you are familiarized with the story. The pre-lesson slideshow includes YouTube links for more than one version, as well as storybook pages you can read with your child.
