Welcome to Alternate New Student Online Enrollment!

Let this page serve as a guide for the online enrollment process.
Follow the steps carefully and you should be done with enrollment quickly and easily!

 

Step 1:
Choosing Courses for High School

If your student(s) are in
PreK-8, skip to Step 3!

If you have a student who is entering High School, you will need to sit down with them and decide what courses they would like to request. You can find the course catalog here: https://ruralvirtual.org/course-descriptions. You may want to take note of what classes your student is interested in, because later in the registration process you will be asked to list your course selections.

Here is a sample of what you will be filling out later. Note that courses with boxes containing x’s are required in most cases. For example in 9th grade you may only request what type of Math you would like and a few electives.

Do your best filling this out and don’t worry if you make any mistakes. We use this form to get an idea of your initial course selections. A High School Counselor will reach out to you to finalize your course selections and schedules after you complete your new student online enrollment for all your students in the RVA.


Step 2:
Download the “Alternate Open Enrollment Form” from The Wisconsin Department of Instruction and fill it out for EACH CHILD enrolling in the RVA

Because you didn’t register during the standard open enrollment window from February through April and you don’t live in one of our consortium districts we need you to fill out an “Alternate Open Enrollment Form” for EACH student you are enrolling in the RVA.

  1. Once you download the form, fill in all the fields for your first student and save to your computer with that student name as the file name. This form is a few pages long. Please fill it out in its entirety.

  2. After you are confident it is saved, from the “file” drop down choose “save as” and save the same form with your 2nd child’s name.

  3. Continue for as many children as you are enrolling.

  4. Once you have created a new document for ALL of your children, edit the 2nd, 3rd, etc…. children’s info that was different than the first and remember to hit save when finished.

  5. At the end you should have a document for each of your children that has their unique information.

    Remember where you saved them because you will need to upload them during the enrollment process.


Step 3:
Watch the video to get familiar with the process

The video below will show you the process of signing into your parent Skyward account, navigating to the new student online enrollment button, and walking through the new student online enrollment.


Step 4:
Click on the “Create Skyward Account” button to create a Skyward account

Below is a button that will take you to the online form to create a Skyward Account. Skyward is the program our school uses to house all of our students data. As a parent you need to create an parent account in order to add your children into that account.

ATTN: IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A STUDENT IN THE RVA, YOU ALREADY HAVE A SKYWARD ACCOUNT. PLEASE REFER TO THE REGISTRATION EMAIL YOU RECEIVED ON MAY 23, 2019 FOR YOUR SKYWARD ACCOUNT’S USERNAME AND PASSWORD.


Step 5:
Enroll ALL your students

Log in to Skyward with your username and password here:

Then complete the enrollment process for all of your children entering the RVA!

PLEASE COMPLETE ENROLLMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

The earlier the better! Early enrollment will ensure you get your t-shirts, course selections, and materials before those who wait until later to register.
